FINTEL ENTERS THE LOCAL RETAIL INTERNET MARKET




FINTEL has begun selling internet direct to customers. The FINTEL Internet Service is now trading in the local market as KIDANET.

KIDA is a Fijian word that means to dawn. It is normally referred to the dawn of a new day. Colloquially, it can also mean to be surprised. This Fijian root word can be extended to mean to greet or be greeted. The word has been carefully chosen to mean the dawn of a new era in Fiji when KIDANET began rolling out its internet services. KIDANET has endeavored to ensure that its product provisioning, delivery and customer care commensurates with benchmarks associated with quality and excellence as well as competitive pricing. The KIDANET services is being offered initially within the SUVA-NAUSORI-LAMI Corridor, and will expand its market penetration to cover as many areas as commercially possible.

FINTEL has chosen the WiMAX wireless solution because it is fast to install, as secure as the wire-line DSL, capable of carrying different types of services, and quicker to reach out to the under-served areas.

FINTEL SELECTS ALVARION FOR its WiMAX NETWORK SOLUTION

FINTEL has selected Alvarion's BreezeMAX solution to offer wireless internet service to the people of Fiji. PACLINK, a Sydney based ALVARION partner, was selected as the supplier for the WiMAX network and is responsible for systems integration, installations and support. PACLINK is widely known in the Pacific and has done many installations throughout the region.

For some time, FINTEL has been evaluating the best and appropriate technologies to bring broadband services to Fiji. FINTEL selected Alvarion products for this deployment in Fiji after extensive evaluation of the market for a robust system that is easily adaptable to the operating environment and offers high performance for non-line-of-sight customers.

BreezeMAX is Alvarion's award-winning WiMAX platform designed from the ground up according to the IEEE 802.16 standards and uses OFDM technology for advanced non-line-of-sight (NLOS) functionality. Its carrier-class design supports broadband speeds and quality of service (QoS) to enable carriers to offer triple play broadband services to thousands of subscribers in a single base station.

Since its launch in mid-2004, BreezeMAX has been successfully deployed in over 180 installations in more than 80 countries around the world.
