The Company
Fiji International Telecommunications Limited (FINTEL) is a Private Company formed in December 1976 and licensed by Government to provide Fiji’s international telecommunications connectivity and terminations to the global and into the domestic network. The company is jointly owned by the Government of Fiji (51 percent) and Cable and Wireless Communications (www.cwc.com) of UK (49 percent).
FINTEL also owns a 100 percent shares in the newly established entity FINTEL Internet Services Limited – trading as "KIDANET" (www.kidanet.com.fj).
The company was incorporated on 8th November 2006 for the purpose of managing internet business into the retails market. Services rendered under this new unit include wireless broadband and broadband satellite services for remote regions. Other value added services will be introduced as the service gains momentum in the market.
FINTEL operates a robust and diverse international networking infrastructure which includes a Southern Cross submarine optical fibre cable terminal and an Intelsat Standard A Satellite Earth Station at its Network Operations Centre in Vatuwaqa. This facility combination provides Fiji a comparative positioning and advantage available in other industrialized and developed countries with direct access to other global networked and various other switching centres.
Direct connectivity continue to be maintained with the following major business streams in Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, Hawaii, and various switching centres in these countries arising from additional routing requirements.
FINTEL’s core revenue stream is from voice services, and the Company also provides Data Bandwidth Lease Services, VSAT Services, Videoconferencing, TV Transmission and the Internet Gateway.
Equally the international and domestic operators play a key role for FINTEL’s business activities in the planning, provision and co-ordination of its services and bilateral agreements are secured to ensure delivery with high standards at all time.
Through its public relations arm, FINTEL acknowledges its social responsibilities as a corporate citizen and makes contributions and assistance to charitable organizations and various public events including sports.
